I joined NTA in March 2020, a day before our country’s “lockdown”. Not only will this always be a very memorable time for me, it also shows how supportive and dedicated NTA are towards their employees and learners.
Prior to joining NTA I worked for Thomas Cook for over 21 years. I started as a travel consultant and advanced into management within my first few years. I was a manager of a store in my home town before progressing to a large store in York. I worked in York for 10 years where I supported a diverse team of over 20 employees in management, travel sales, apprentices and foreign exchange. I was also a mentor to the apprentices and new starters. I landed my dream role as a Regional Assessor for the Talent Program Team for Thomas Cook in 2019. After the devastating collapse of Thomas Cook I worked for Hays Travel as a manager to a new shop, where I developed a brand new team in both sales and forgein exchange before moving to NTA to continue my training career and dream job.
My 21 years in the travel industry has given me a wealth of knowledge and skills in retail, forgein exchange, customer service and management.
I love to learn and have a Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning, a BA Hons in Educational Studies and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in the Life-Long Learning sector. I worked towards these qualifications whilst working full time and also supporting my son through his exams, so I know and understand just how hard it is to juggle life, learning and employment. I am fully supportive of our learners and anyone who is wanting to learn and progress.
On a personal note, I love my family, my dogs, the great outdoors, travelling and the theatre!
